Breast Augmentation Surgery Services in Saginaw and Midland, MI

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a procedure that typically involves using either a silicone or saline implant to enlarge the breast.  It is one of the most common plastic surgical procedures that is performed and also one of the most satisfying for many women.

Qualifying for the Surgery

Qualifying for breast augmentation is easy. Do you feel self-conscious about the fit of your clothes around the bust line? Has your confidence diminished in a bathing suit? Eligible candidates are simply those who aren’t satisfied with the shape, size or contour of their breasts. This may  be something you have been considering  since early adulthood or after having children or from weight loss.  Breasts implants can correct the shape and symmetry of your breasts.

Preparing for the Procedure

Dr Barry will  go into detail about the implant options available to you from silicone to saline implants, round versus anatomically shaped and smooth versus textured.  Also implant placement either below or above the pectoralis muscle will be discussed.  Once it has been established that you are a good candidate for breast augmentation, our office will schedule a date for your procedure. Smoking and anti-inflammatory drugs should be avoided well in advance of the procedure to decrease your risk of complications. Dr. Barry will give you supplemental instructions according to your health history and other individual factors.

How it Works

The  augmentation procedure is performed by creating small incisions typically along the inferior breast fold.  A breast implant is place either below or above  the muscle depending on several factors. You have the option of using silicone or saline implants.  Also there is a choice of round or anatomically shaped implants.   You can expect this process to last about two hours. You’ll be able to return home the same day wearing a surgical bra.

Rest and Recovery

After the procedure, be fully prepared for stiffness, soreness and bruising  You wll be sent home with the medication you will need to address pain and swelling. Have someone available to drive you home after your operation.  You will wear a suportive bra for several weeks. You should limit all physical activity for up to three weeks, possibly longer.

Loving Your Shape

While results are immediate, it may take some time to see the permanent results clearly due to your body’s natural recovery process. Once you have fully healed, you will love your fuller, enhanced figure. Dr. Barry’s goal is to boost your self-confidence and produce long-lasting results. In order to maintain your look, our office recommends scheduling follow-up appointments.
